World-building means being in other worlds so deep that they come alive - which is exactly why it sharpens our capacity to imagine. And if there is anything we need right now, it is imagination, community and hope for the future!
Laura Horn, Associate Professor at Roskilde University and sci-fi nerd, takes us through world-building in solar punk, climate fiction and (board) games. Along the way, we'll explore what drives world-building, discuss tropes (a world of hats, anyone?), and find out why sometimes we might just have to let go of being disenchanted.
Everyone is welcome to share their own experiences and worlds.
With this event The Roskilde libraries step outside the library institution to collaborate with another cultural player in Roskilde, this time Gimle. One of your local librarians, Susan Jessen Spiele, will recommend sci-fi novels and help you find your next great reading experience.
